In the spirit of the season, we have decided to do a giveaway. We know its a little late, but a gift is a gift any time, right? This is just our small way of showing our gratitude for all of our readers.
Here is the catch. We want you all to enter on behalf of another family in need, a family who could use a $75 GIFT CARD to Discount School Supplies.
(Please note: DSS does not ship internationally. So this is restricted to US residents. We apologize to our international followers and wish we could change this.)

This is what you need to do:
EMAIL US at playathomemom3@gmail.com about the family you are playing for and why they deserve it, and post the link to this giveaway on your own FB page (if you click SHARE under this link on Facebook, it will share it to your wall and we will be able to see that it has been shared). On Thursday night we will blog about our top 3 choices - leaving out details to protect privacy. Then YOU will choose a winner. Our readers will have until Saturday at noon to vote, then we will notify the nominator that their family won on Saturday night. The gift card will be purchased and mailed to the winning family Saturday night as well....or when we hear back from the person who nominated them.

Okay, I'm going to enter, but break the rules a little. :) I live (intentionally) in a neighborhood that has some renovated houses (like mine, which was built in 1899) but is mostly unrenovated houses where people are renting and struggle economically. We have kids at our house numerous times a week because they are hungry, and they know they can play safely in our fenced in yard and with our playground equipment, (and with safe adults) and be fed (which is not always available at home). We've gotten quite a good rapport at this point with a big group of parents and they send their kids over when things are scarce at home.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I have two little girls and quite a few art supplies, and they are always begging to use them but I only have a small amount of each thing. We do it, but only when I have one or two over since I don't have materials that make it feasible to do it with eight kids. We are in the process of adopting a baby with down syndrome from Eastern Europe, so money is tight! If I had this gift card, I'd gladly get enough supplies to use with the neighbor kids, and maybe even be able to teach them how to use them and send them home with them. They'd love it!
