I am Thankful

My oldest daughter loves taking pictures lately.  We were talking about what we were thankful for this morning when she asked to take a picture.  I asked her if she would like to take some pictures of things she was thankful for.

"Yes!  That's a great idea, Mommy.  I'm thankful for my bunk bed.  I'm going to take a picture of that!"

After she was done taking hundreds of pictures (lol) we went to the computer and I asked her to pick three that she wanted to print out.  She chose her bunk bed, a dolphin that she sleeps with, and our dog.  We didn't make the cut!  LOL  After we printed them out I gave her a couple different options of what we could do with them.  She chose to make a t-shirt.

Inkjet Printer
White shirt
Transfer paper

Let your child take pictures of things they are thankful for.  Print the pictures out on transfer paper.  Using a hot iron, transfer the image to shirt.

I purchased the transfer paper from Michaels Craft Store.  It is called Jolee's Easy Image.

Taking pictures

Cutting out the pictures

Peeling off the backing.  Her favorite part!

Ironing on image.  Make sure you have some sort of pillow case, small towel, etc. underneath the shirt to protect your table as well.

"Look, it's my dolphin!!!!!!"

More peeling fun.

This is what we have so far.  I told her we can add more each day

Back of t-shirt.  I'm sure we will fill the back up as well.  Make sure you put something between the front and back before you iron on your image... or the images on the front will melt.

"Can I put it on, Mommy?!"

  1. What a wonderful idea! She looks so happy and proud with her new shirt on! I'm definitely saving this one for when my daughter is a bit older. Thanks for the inspiration, and the smile!

  2. This is such a great idea! My daughter is 17 months old and a little to young to understand this, but I'm definitely doing it starting next year! I love, love, love your blog. I have done so many things from here and am now incorporating some of your ideas into a toddler sensory group some other moms and I just organized. What am I thankful for? Play at Home Mom! :)

  3. I am thankful for YOU. For having such a wonderful blog filled with inspiration. I have a 22month old daughter & you have changed the way I look at playing & being a "Play at home mom"- I'm so so SO serious, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart.

  4. this is so neat!!! can you do another post when you finish the t-shirt with all the pictures??

  5. This is awesome and I llove seeing her iron! the only thing about these iron on projects is that they always wash super bad for me. If I wash inside out and hang the shirt to dry it tends to last a little longer. I am sure there is a super smart web way to fix it though.
