Where is the cream? - Infant play

I often played a game with my middle girl when she was around 14-15 months old where I squirted colored foam paint on her body parts.  It was one of her favorite games.  I thought I would try it with my youngest, but I used cool whip instead.   I wanted something edible and this is what I had on hand.  You could also use yogurt, baby cereal, etc.

My daughter is 8 months here.

Colored cool whip.

"There is blue on your toe!"

"Do you see the green on your knee?"

I don't know if my 29 month old remembered this but she was ALL over this one.  LOL  She sat next to her the whole time we played.

What the heck is this thing?

Maybe if I taste it I will figure it out.

Trying to imitate me.

Ooooohhhhh, that is some GOOD stuff!

So I just paint my body like this?

"You have your hand in the green.  That must feel slimy!"

The pan was fun to play with, too.

A little extra cream.

She loved the puffiness of this!  Next time we will have to opt for the foam paint.

Trying to grab it.

Sensory play at it's finest.

  2. Wonderful! How would it hold up if we gave our older kids paper to finger pant with it, I wonder?

  3. Did you have to color the cool whip or is there colored cool whip out there I don't know about? I would LOVE to do this with my 8 month old daughter too! I bet my son would be right beside her the whole time as well!

    1. Did you use food coloring or another coloring agent? Did it stain the skin at all? Just curious.

    2. I was wondering the same...if it would stain the skin.

    3. I just did this with my (almost) 11 month old, regular food coloring, didn't stain the skin, washed him off shortly after. :) SO much fun!

  4. This looks so fun, but I'd have to think really hard about where we could do this because I can see her running all over the house. My hubby would probably not be impressed...

  8. Please do not feed Cool Whip to your infants. It's ingredients are so horrible for anyone to be ingesting. Watch the food coloring too, the chemicals used in artificial food colorings are also unhealthy and many are allergic.

    2. Poor Julie appears to be misinformed. She missed quite a few ingredients. Cool whip is composed of water, hydrogenated vegetable oil, high fructose corn syrup, corn syrup, skim milk, light cream, sodium caseinate, natural and artificial flavors, xantham gum, guar gum, polysorbate 60, sorbitan monostearate and beta carotene.

I would list all of the detrimental effects of these ingredients on the body, but I'm guessing that, if you are reading this post, you are internet savvy enough to Google them yourself.

With that being said, I doubt very highly that eating a small amount every once in a while is going to kill anyone. I personally wouldn't give it to my infant, but I certainly wouldn't judge anyone who does.

    3. If you don't want to give them cool whip then use yogurt or use cream and whip it yourself.
Don't beat Julie up just because you don't want to use cool whip. I'm a mom and grandma and I would do this if mine were little.

    4. If cool whip fails, use yogurt. Worried about artificial food coloring? Use berries and fruits to mix the colors.

  10. I haven't seen any for a long time (but also haven't looked) in the mid to late 90's there was colored foam soap. Same kind of fun, but in the tub and makes clean up fun - plus no mess!
