My girls absolutely LOVED this bin. When you have more than one child, it's often hard to set something up that they will both enjoy... especially when you have complete opposites! This is one they both played with together for over an hour!
What is here:
Storage bin filled with water and frozen to create an ice skating rink. We put this on the light panel but you do not need to do this. It would also be fun just on his own.
Little Christmas Tree
Magna tiles to create an ice sculpture. :-)
Little blinking snowman (A gift from AK and her family. Thank you!)
We wrapped Christmas Lights around for a more "Christmasy" feel
"That's cold!!"
"Mommy, the horse has cold feet!"
Licking the ice
That looked like fun. Let me try it! LOL
<3 them!
The ice had started to melt a little bit creating holes where some bubbles were. My oldest took out her playmobil dogs and started digging in the holes.

That is too cool! Definately pinning to my Sensory Bins Board!

ReplyDeleteHi! My name is Betsy and I am an elementary school counselor in VA. I have fallen in love with this blog! I use play therapy as often as I can with my students and have been looking for ways to bring your ideas into my guidance lessons, especially for pre-schoolers. I teach a 15-minute guidance lesson to pre-school classes once a week and struggle to break the read-a-book-color-a-picture routine. However, just this week I used inspiration from your blog to create a "feelings box" of Christmas-color confetti and blocks with feeling words written on them. I hid the blocks (15 of them) in the confetti and had each child take turns finding a block, studying the word, and discussing it's meaning. I supplemented the discussion with the book "Today I Feel Silly" by Jamie Lee Curtis. The students were highly motivated to get their little hands into the confetti!
ReplyDeleteI am curious as to what suggestions you might have that would be appropriate for 15- minute guidance lessons, perhaps focusing on friendship and other character building themes?
TIA!
This is awesome! I can't wait to try it!!
