Materials:
Salad spinner
Tempera paints
Paper plates
Hair gel
Brush a paper plate with hair gel. Place the plate inside the salad spinner and squirt 3-4 colors onto plate. Put the lid on the salad spinner and spin away! You can always add more paint and spin again if you want to add more color. If you want to add some sparkle, sprinkle with glitter while still wet. Set out to dry.

Is the hair gel essential or would oil work as I presume it's to make the paint spin out easier
ReplyDeleteI did this today with my boys and their friend.. lots of fun, even for two 9 year olds and an 11 year old (and for the 40 year old mama!) Thanks for posting this!
ReplyDeletewe didnt use any gel at all and it worked,, maybe not as well but the boys loved it...
ReplyDeletewhat a great idea, now I dont have to buy a paint spinner
ReplyDeleteMy son did this at his preschool, and it was such a hit! We made cut paper circles for them, which is more work, but it makes such a great collage!
ReplyDeleteI just did this with my 21 month old son this morning. We used what we had newsprint paper and paint. I can see the hair gel acting like a "lubricant" ad the heavier paper staying in the spinner better. He enjoyed the activity but is loving playing in the sink more right now.
